You have been assessed by the Accident & Emergency (A&E) triage staff and based on your history and the symptoms you have presented with today we would like to invite you to our Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinic (EPAC) tomorrow morning for further assessment and/or treatment.

Q: Why can't I be seen today?

Unfortunately we are unable to provide a 24 hour scanning service and you may require an ultrasound scan as part of your care. Following your assessment in A&E we feel that it is possible to see you during normal clinic hours (which are 08.30 - 12.30, Monday to Friday).

The EPAC clinic provides the environment and appropriately trained staff to care for you during this time. You will be seen by a specialist nurse who will assess your needs and plan your care.

We appreciate that this may not allow you to get the reassurance you need today, but by waiting until tomorrow we are able to treat you in a dedicated clinic.

Q: What happens if my symptoms get worse?

If your vaginal bleeding becomes very heavy or your pain becomes worse then we would ask that you return to A&E to be seen by one of our gynaecology doctors. You will be assessed and either asked to return for your EPAC appointment or your symptoms will be investigated further there and then.
